Koodo Tab Balance

Userlevel 1
I just logged into my Koodo account to check my negative tab balance and I see an option never seen before. It's allowing me to pay off my tab. I thought you couldn't pay off your negative tab unless you bought another phone or quit Koodo. It states, Pay Off Your Tab Balance of $xxx.xx Would you like to pay off your Tab balance? You'll see this as a one-time charge on your next monthly bill. Once your Tab is paid off, you'll start accumulating a positive Tab, which can be put towards your next upgrade! What I like to know, instead of accumulating a positive Tab once the tab is paid off, can I just get 10% off my monthly bill? Anyone else run across this?

Yup, to qualify for a 10% discount, you need to have a zero or positive Tab balance. However, there is no benefit to paying off your Tab early to get a 10% discount because 15% of your monthly plan cost is used to pay down your Tab. This represents an interest-free loan to you from Koodo for the Tab balance. If you pay your Tab down to zero, you would be out-of-pocket the amount of your Tab owing.

I'm getting 10% off my monthly bill put towards paying off my tab not 15%. Also, I don't like contracts/tabs and like to own my stuff, free and clear. Just me. 🙂

That's fair, samsvoc. If paying off the Tab gives you peace of mind, then by all means you can pay off the Tab and get the 10% discount.

The tab is paid by Koodo, unless you're upgrading your tab level, paying it off is tantamount to throwing money away. The phone is already "yours" since the tab is associated with your account and not your device. It just doesn't make sense financially to pay it off.
