Koodo Protection Plan

I just noticed that my premium for this plan increased in August 2017 from $7 to 9$. In my contract it specifies that the cost agreed to is $7 per month. How is it possible for Koodo to arbitrarily increase this premium on a signed 2 yr agreement. My understanding is that if I agree to a 2 yr plan then the cost is $7 per month throughout the length of the agreement.

It says they can change the price of the monthly charge but they will let you know and then you have the chance to cancel it.

Can the terms of my plan change? Yes, but know that if we make any changes – such as the monthly charge or to the Program Plan Contract – we’ll make sure to let you know at least 30 days before the change. Notice may be in the form of a bill insert, a message printed on your monthly bill, an email or text message, a separate mailing, or any other reasonable method, at our sole discretion. The notice will include the effective date of the change. If you don’t like the change, you may cancel your coverage without cost or penalty. Continuing to use the plan and paying the charges after the notification lets us know that you’ve accepted the changes.

The terms are outlined below depending on when you purchased the protection plan

On August 1, 2017 customers who bought KPP prior to July 16th, 2017 got notified on their bill of the $2 increase and the increase took place on your first bill after October 1, 2017.
The service fee of $79 did stay the same though.
