Koodo charges $0.01 and then charges the bill amount.


I recently checked my account activity for my visa debit card with TD Bank and noticed that Koodo charged me $0.01 and then charged me my bill amount. I spoke to a customer service representative (*611) but the individual claims that Koodo did not charge me $0.01. But when I checked my account activity it clearly states that "KOODO AIRTIME_V" debit 0.01. Can anyone explain why I got charged a penny?

I noticed this as well and was also wondering why they charge and then refund that 1 cent, would love to see an official explanation of this from a koodo employee.

Hi there! This charge is just a pre-approval before the actual charge is made and will be automatically refunded back to the card. No need to worry 😉 ________________________ If you see a good answer, give it a star.

This just happened to me. Should I expect this same refund? Also, why would I need this pre-approval? I've been a customer for over a year, and htis never happened before.

This system has always been like this so either you haven't noticed until now or it wasn't doing the preapproval for some reason. The reason for the preapproval is to make sure that you have money in the account/available credit on your credit card. Yes, expect your $0.01 back.
This just happened to me. Should I expect this same refund? Also, why would I need this pre-approval? I've been a customer for over a year, and htis never happened before.

No I actually checked my account, scrolled to all koodo bills, nothing there. This is the first time.

Like I said: This system has always been like this so either you haven't noticed until now or it wasn't doing the preapproval for some reason. "or it wasn't doing the preapproval for some reason." But the system is supposed to do it. Why it wasn't happening before and it is now, you won't get an exact reason why. All you need to know is that's how the system is supposed to work so you don't have anything to worry about 🙂
