iPhone data usage

On an average month my data usage comes to about 100MB. I check using the built in monitor to keep track of data used. As I checked this month my iPhone is feeling me I have used over 4GB of data. I haven't done anything different from pervious months. Is this just a bug in the iPhone 4?

Ouch Jeff, that is quite an increase! I suggest you check your self-service account, because (with a slight delay) that will give you the exact amount of data used. If you really used up that much data, you may need to see if you have a resource hog app or something!

If your running the first version of iOS 6 on your iPhone 4 it could possibly be a known issue but I'm not 100% sure. There was an issue when the iPhone 5 was released ( with iOS 6) that would read wifi usage as data usage causing you to be billed for your wifi usage, however I'm not sure if it affected only the iPhone 5 or any model running the first version of iOS 6.

As an iPhone 5, iOs6 user I've never had this issue.
The thing that a lot of iPhone users dont know about this issue is that to more accurately track your usage on your iPhone itself, you need to reset your usage stats at the start of each billing cycle manually. To do this you can do the following: Settings General Usage Cellular Usage and once in that window, click on the button Reset Statistics. This will then reset the call time and the data stats to show as 0.

True Rob. Also, if you've done a restore recently, it might have restored the use of when you last backup-ed

Hello Jeff, I am an iPhone user as well, I believe that 4GB is the total GB your phone have sent or received. There is no cause for concern as this is measurement is quite inaccurate, your phone counts for every data used. Koodo does exclude picture messaging, the use of the Koodo app, and others. It is more accurate if you check your usage online at koodomobile.com/selfserve or by downloading the Koodo app. If it helps, please click the star button below my comment.
