ex-customer


I asked for a paper bill when I signed up with Koodo and did not receive one. I was only with Koodo for 6 to 8 weeks and I was disconnected. I paid the bill in full and was asked if I wanted to be reconnected, of course I said absolutely not!!! Now they want several hundred dollars that I don't owe and have sent it to collections. How is this possible?????????

When you say disconnected, did koodo disconnect you or you cancelled. Just like Justin if you took a tab on the phone you have to settle as well, maybe you didn't and that what pushed the account into collection.
what is a tab?
I was told the phone was free if I signed up with koodo!

Actually from what you said you said, you do owe money. The phone was free on a TAB that pays itself off a little bit every month. If you decide to leave and cancel (which you did, you very much had the option of staying), then you must pay the remaining balance on the tab. You can't just get a free phone and walk away from a phone company a few months later. So the debt was and is real and now you must settle it with the collection agency. Your credit has already been affected so I would pay the collection agency and settle this debt. It will come off in 7 years.

I was not informed anything about this and I did not receive any communication saying I owe this just like the bill I did not receive! How was I not given the chance to pay it becore it was sent to collections when I didn't know I owed it??

When you signed up there was a an agreement you had to sign, multiple times. It detailed what you have including what you own on the phone etc. if you did take tab.

I did not walk away, koodo disconnected me. This has affected my credit rating. Considering the fact I received no notification of this bill, I wil have to speak with my lawyer. Koodo cannot ruin your credit rating without notifying me I owe the money in the first place and putting it into a collection agency.

One unpaid bill does not ruin a credit rating. If you go through a lawyer then it must mean you can afford the bill and your credit rating is probably not gonna be hurt by one bill

Koodo only disconnects you if your not paying bills. In those 6-8 weeks you said you were with Koodo did you pay your bill? If not that is why they disconnected you. And disconnecting you definitely doesn't mean that they have decided to give you the phone for free. The bill you would have paid to reconnect would have just been the remaining amount to bring it back into good standing. If you wanted to leave then youd be paying that plus the amount owing on your phone. As Rudy said, all of this would have been spelled out on the agreement you signed and agreed to when you initially got service.

Hello. A Tab is this, since others have No clue: When You pick a Phone, there's a Thing called a Tab, where you pay a certain amount every month on top of your monthly bill. So, if your monthly bill was $60 a month, and and your handset was, $450, you'd pay $10 on top, example, of your $60, each before tax. So, if you added all together, you'd pay somewhere in the $79-$80 range per month until handset was paid for, then you'd pay the $60 monthly plan only. Carriers Never give Handsets for Free. Either You pay for handset in Full, or you go on a Tab and pay more per month until Phone was paid off, then you pay only your Plan fees

Laura, before any disconnection they send out letters and text messages that account is overdue etc. You must have received something!
