My airtime overage is $0.45/minute.
That is way more than pay per use so how is that fair?

Fairness is something you won't find in many places, the world is a very unfair place.

Anyway, if you find yourself going over your minutes a lot then maybe it's time to consider upgrading your plan to something that meets your needs better.

I would upgrade my plan but data is much cheaper than current rates and I'd rather keep it.
$0.45/minute is like we're in the 70s.

$0.45...

There is also an option to add unlimited incoming calls to your plan via an add-on. Cost is 10$ a month.

There's a lot more plans with Unlimited calling or absurd amounts of minutes but data has increased in price so I think the new plans reflect what people want these days. That being said, you are stuck between a rock and a hard place but there is an unlimited incoming option like Mathieu said.

It's fair because it was printed in the contract, to be read by you, before you signed.

Ok, my contract says "Services available on a Pay-per-Use basis are not included in your monthly rate plan. Current rates at the time of use will apply. For more information on Pay-per-Use services and for current rates see koodomobile.com/payperuse". So I should feel lucky it was only $0.45/minute but is now $0.50/minute. There is no mention of a cost for extra data. It may be fair because I signed the contract  but it is still a ripoff.
