Billing after cancellation Not notified, credit damage

How do I pay off the tabs if koodo has already closed my account right after I switched from koodo to rogers? (I switch to rogers in October 2013 and I have paid the remaining balance on the koodo account. But koodo did not notify me that I have not paid off the tab balance until I found out there is a bad debt section on my credit report) How can I pay off the tab without an existing account?(or deal with the collection agency?)

You would have to deal with the collection agency

If your account has been already referred to a collection agency, you will have to deal with them directly, try to get to an agreement with them to pay the amount... The sooner the better...

Also, once you pay the collection agency in full request a release letter from them to state that have you settled your debt.
Koodo will have notified you as well as try and contact you about your outstanding balance. If you ignored these requests, then that's on you and you will need to deal with the collection agency.
Pretty similar thing just happend to me. Cancelled my services in July. Didn't get final bill and today I got a call from collection agency! Thank you koodo for damaging my credit history/score.

Did you sign into your self serve account to check for a final bill? It remains active for at least 90 days after cancellation. Did you make sure your mailing address was up to date? Was there a contact number other than your koodo cell number listed on the account? Koodo will attempt to notify customers of outstanding balances before writing off their debt to a collection agency, as doing so only allows them to recoup a tiny amount of the balance owed, but if they don't have the correct contact information there is no way for them to do so.

They were sending bills to my email address and I was paying a them right away. Except last one. I've never got it. I still use same email. Also, they could call me - didn't change my phone number. Today I got a robocall from some one on behalf of Koodo. Checked my self serve account and found there my final bill with interests. Very funny way to notify person about outstanding bill. I tried to open Home Depot CC last month. Now I know why my application was refused.
