additional usage charges

On my very first bill I have been charged a $29.50 fee for Local Airtime Phone minutes but my plan has 500 anytime minutes and I only used 198minutes. Why am I being charged this fee??

It's called proration. Standard practive for all phone companies. Based on when you started and what your billing cycle is your first bill is prorated meaning you don't get the entire 500 minutes since you are not paying for the entire month. This will help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oE9TiOqzrVg
This doesn't entirely make sense then*Chris* if a person is paying for a certain plan you'd expect to get that service (plan) no matter if you started mid month or on right the day of billing cycle. Only difference should be the price due to when you first got the account established not the plan. (Sorry writing this on my cell, harder than I thought lol)

What it should be and what it is are different. Yes, I agree that best outcome would be your billing cycle to start in the day of buying the phone. No cellphone company does that on monthly plans. Cellphone companies charge a month in advance so when you buy the phone there is usually a short period that's prorated plus next month in advance. I didn't design it but that's how it works. 🙂
