Awareness test: Wireless Public Alerting

On November 28th at 1:55 PM local time (2:55 PM local time in Quebec), a test of the Alert Ready system will be conducted in all provinces. The test will be distributed on TV, radio and compatible wireless devices. The message sent to wireless devices will be similar to the following (content will vary in each province):

Alberta Emergency Alert - Test Alert - The Alberta Emergency Management Agency has issued a Province Wide Test Alert on November 28, 1:55 PM. This is only a TEST. If this had been an actual emergency or threat, you would receive instructions that would assist you to protect you and your family. If you received this message, visit www.albertaemergencyalert.ca/mobile for more information.

In order to receive an alert on their wireless devices, customers must:
  • Have a compatible device with the latest software version.
  • Be connected to the LTE network at the time the alert was sent.

Note: It is not possible for customers to opt-out of these alerts.
