Xiaomi Mi A1 Set preferred network type - Which network?

I recently received my Xiaomi Mi A1 and popped the SIM in, it was only getting 3G at first, but after the first security update it now picks up 4G often, but switches back to 3G more than I would like.
My question is, after entering *#*#4636#*#* and looking at the "Set preferred network type" it defaults to TD-SCDMA/CDMA/UMTS
Here are all the options;

WCDMA preferred
GSM only
WCDMA only
GSM auto (PRL)
CDMA auto (PRL)
CDMA only
EvDo only
Global auto (PRL)
LTE/CDMA auto (PRL)
LTE/UMTS auto (PRL)
LTE/CDMA/UMTS auto (PRL)
LTE only
LTE/WCDMA
TD-SCDMA only
TD-SCDMA/WCDMA
LTE/TD-SCDMA
TD-SCDMA/GSM
TD-SCDMA/UTMS
LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS
TD-SCDMA/CDMA/UMTS
Global/TD-SCDMA
Unknown

I have no idea which one would be best based on Koodo's network. Any help would be appreciated. I would prefer 4G/LTE as often as possible, obviously.

Thanks everyone.

LTE/WCDMA is usually a default on most phones. That will give you LTE, 4G and 3G.

Thank you, I have switched it, but I'm still sitting at 3G a lot of the time.
Any other of those options you'd suggest?

Hmmm...nevermind. It looks like it resets to the default when I power cycle the phone...i set it back and it's sticking at 4G consistently for now. Thank you!

You're getting LTE in less places because your phone is lacking Band 4. You only have LTE band 7, which is not used in as many places as Band 4. That's the reality of using Xiaomi phones in Canada (I've had several).

But it does use Band 4.
It's the Xiaomi MDG2 (Mi A1) and according to their site http://www.mi.com/en/mi-a1/specs/ and several other sites I've looked at, it does support LTE Band 4 and 7

The global version doesn't. Russian and select Asian versions do: https://m.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_a1-8776.php#global

It is the Hong Kong version that I purchased.

Even then 7/38 for LTE-A should still be well covered unless you happen to be on the edge of coverage for it. There's a couple LTE/cdma choices and a umts. You could try one of those as well to see if it'll stick after a restart.

Used the app LTE Discovery. I am receiving Band 4 LTE.

I will try some different choices and see if they stick after reboot.
Thank you.

Did you finally find the right configuration? I am still using my old Nexus 4 on koodo network...looking for a new phone. The Xiaomi Mi A1 would be a perfect choice for me...but I am still a little bit concerned with LTE bands...your feedback would be appreciated.

It seems to always reset to the default setting. That being said, I've noticed I'm 4G 95% of the time and the speeds are decent. It's a great phone and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Definitely recommended!
