Why am I not allowed to cancel my voicemail service?

I want to cancel the voicemail on my account completely, so that missed calls just ring and ring, and calls when I am on the phone produce a busy signal.  Why is this not an option?

I also want to know why I am not allowed to ask this question privately.

Pretty well all North American carriers do the same because they don't want the calls you ignore or a busy signal to tie up their networks indefintely. They would rather give your callers their 15 seconds of airtime and then boot them off politely while giving them the option of contacting you.

There have been several other discussions on this topic. Do a search in the box beside your name at the top of the page. The long and the short of it is there's no doing without voicemail, just some workarounds that let your callers know it's not being monitored.

Unhelpful and condescending, and I now reiterate my second question: Why am I not allowed to ask this in private?  I shouldn't have to do a forum search and deal with a snarky non-representative of the phone provider for whom I have a question.

This forum, as the first and last line of customer service, is a farce.  I am dropping Koodo tomorrow.

Dropping Koodo is your choice and decision, too bad for you because in Canada the service is pretty good (I am not a Koodo employee by the way, just a customer). Fact is that all the questions, problems, ideas could be interesting for other members of the Koodo world. Of course you have the option to solve your own problems and this would be VERY private,

If privacy is a concern, you can always pick up your phone, dial 611 and speak to a representative and ask if you can cancel voicemail. That's about as private as it gets. I can guarantee you will get the same answer you did here. We're all customers trying to help out other customers. I'm hoping you'll reconsider and stay with Koodo, but that's entirely your decision.
