When will galaxy s7 be updated to android 7?

Userlevel 1
Hi! I own a Samsung Galaxy S7 device (bought on a koodo plan), and was wondering when the Android 7 Nougat update would be available for my phone? I know its been recently available for many S7 devices across the globe and would like to know when koodo would be pushing out this update. Thanks!

Hi Yung,Koodo did not announce any dates for the nougat update yet. Keep an eye open here:https://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/upcoming-software-updates

Wow, that's rather disappointing considering the fact that if I only purchased an unlocked phone instead I'd first of all be saving money and also already have the newest updates. But thanks for your help anyway!

That's honestly terrible service from koodo. Forget the fact that my s7 is constantly behind on security patches which they only have to send out. Even rogers has said a date for nouget. Looks like I'll just deal with another carrier in the future.

Last update 12 months ago...ok Koodo wake up people and start doing something like actively communicating with your customers on this update.

Yung, If the phone was bought unlocked than the update comes from Samsung not Koodo. GP, Koodo needs to wait for the manufacturer to release an update before they can get started so its mainly the manufacturers fault when update are late. If the update has been out in NA for awhile then it will have been Koodo being slow.

I wonder what major advantages there are to update the GS7 to Nougat...many of the added features don't apply to the GS7 because of TouchWiz. The major feature that'd apply across the board is native VR support (but doesn't the GS7 ship with VR support even in Marshmallow?). I've experimented with a Galaxy Note 4, and even in KitKat, it already integrated many of the Lollipop features prior to receiving the update.
If you're impatient, you can probably flash your GS7 with an OTA or stock firmware from an alternative software channel. Good things come to those who wait.
As much as everyone gets rowdy over OTA's, if software updates are what's most important to you, get a Nexus/Pixel device. If you are a Samsung fan, then you could order the phone from manufacturer or get them on promo through carrier, and wait for OTA's through manufacturer/carrier.
Given OP's choice of handset, it suggests that rocking a Samsung is far more important than using the latest update. Rumour has it that Nougat will be the last major update for the GS7 - link: http://www.androidguys.com/2016/03/14/consider-this-your-latest-s7-purchase-may-only-get-you-one-maj...
You got the phone with Marshmallow, expect it to work with Marshmallow. Granted, most flagship phones get two major updates. Looks like Samsung is hoping that you'll upgrade your handset sooner by slacking off in their software engineering.
My galaxy s7 is still to this day running 6.0.1 and when checking for an update says it's up to date

Please do only post the same thing once. That's plenty to get a response.
