1 ### ### ####@msg.koodomobile.com or @msg.telus.com sends a text message to the ### ### #### phone, but it's tagged as multimedia, which requires mobile data to download. Defeats the purpose. May as well send email directly.

[1 ### ### #### is keyed as numeral 1 +area code +phone number with no spaces or other characters)

@msg.koodomobile.com is sent as an MMS. @msg.telus.com is sent as an SMS.

contact customer service online: EMAIL US
https://secure.koodomobile.com/account/appmanager/support/contactus
  1. This is like a 3 year old thread
  2. They were asking for the email to be able to text a phone via an email, not the email for koodo customer service

both 1234567890@msg.koodomobile.com and 1234567890@msg.telus.com worked for me in my simple test - sent from a personal domain hosted by Google's G-Suite, and a university account hosted by Microsoft's outlook.com.

The 1234567890@msg.koodomobile.com has a better "from" format, so that's what I will use.

TELUS works fine without data enabled and with very little delay, (prepaid). (Mobile data enabled...If you are going to send them to a Gmail address, are there filters there you can prioritize messages so they come to you as quickly as a Text Message, or be sent to a Google messaging service?

TELUS works fine without data enabled and with very little delay, (prepaid). (Mobile data enabled...Manual SMS texting between two mobile phones works fine.

Not getting SMS text messages via #########@msg.telus.com from services like:

SPOT (Global Satellite GPS Messenger) sending from my email address (Big 5 bank) Direct Investing Alerts
  • TradingView email SMS alerts
Earlier today (Jan 19, 2018) ran a series of tests from a gmail account - last 2 out of 8 messages were received (sent at about 5 minute intervals).

Almost wondering if I could rig up a gmail account to receive the email message and then forward back out to #########@msg.telus.com try as a dodgy workaround

TELUS works fine without data enabled and with very little delay, (prepaid). (Mobile data enabled...However, if you have a cellular network connected phone, you can simply text the recipient!

TELUS works fine without data enabled and with very little delay, (prepaid). (Mobile data enabled...On Jan 19, 2018 using ##########@msg.telus.com works almost instantly using both gmail and yahoo as sending addresses from a desktop mac.

Email sent anywhere from phone also works as long as wifi is enabled. But if I am remote and use mobile data, mail to telus addresses often fails.

TELUS works fine without data enabled and with very little delay, (prepaid). (Mobile data enabled...The send a message service which is no longer available is the one that allowed people to send a text message via a page on koodo's website.

TELUS works fine without data enabled and with very little delay, (prepaid). (Mobile data enabled), received this message from Koodo:

"[i]Your message couldn't be delivered. The Domain Name System (DNS) reported that the recipient's domain does not exist. Contact the recipient by some other means (by phone, for example) and ask them to tell their email admin that it appears that their domain isn't properly registered at their domain registrar. Give them the error details shown below. It's likely that the recipient's email admin is the only one who can fix this problem".

No surprise there as they, Koodo, have indicated the service is no more. Not sure how Ray is getting through though.
is this still working ? I'm not able to send sms over email using [url=mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@msg...@msg.telus.com is no longer working for me - SMS from SPOT emergency locator, my alarm company, gmail.com email account don't get through.

Does anyone know of an alternative pre-paid mobile provider that does have email to SMS text that consistently works?

It's rather important that I can get SMS from alarms and emergency locators on my mobile phone.

is this still working ? I'm not able to send sms over email using [url=mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@msg...Your personal domain may not be whitelisted on Koodo or Telus servers. There have been some stories about SMS forwarding or SMS creation sites being blacklisted as well, seemingly as a spam prevention measure.
is this still working ? I'm not able to send sms over email using [url=mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@msg...Allan: My own domain, has it since 1996. Have SPF TXT records in the DNS so haven't had any issues with getting flagged as spam (until now it seems).

is this still working ? I'm not able to send sms over email using [url=mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@msg...Glad it's working! Out of curiosity what is the domain of the email that isn't working for you? Is it your own custom domain?
is this still working ? I'm not able to send sms over email using [url=mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@msg...Have kept testing.

Using a gmail.com address to send to ##########@msg.telus.com and it worked!  Came through immediately as Ray described above.

Looks like Telus may be blocking email send from my own email address for some reason.   I also had a 3rd party also send email to ...@msg.telus.com and got the SMS text message as well.

Thank you Allan and Ray.  I would have given up if you guys didn't chime in!

is this still working ? I'm not able to send sms over email using [url=mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@msg...Allan, Ray: thanks for jumping in and helping!  Much appreciated.

I'm sending email to: ##########@msg.telus.com - triple confirmed and tried again - 10 digit koodo phone number@msg.telus.com

Nothing yet, and no bounced email either... you guys have given me hope that it might work. Not giving up yet!

is this still working ? I'm not able to send sms over email using [url=mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@msg...I am on prepaid. Sending to the Koodo address also works with some delay, but as noted it is formatted as MMS, which requires you to activate data (it doesn't count against data allowances, but any background activity on your device will).

is this still working ? I'm not able to send sms over email using [url=mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@msg...Just tested it and it came through immediately. Although I am on postpaid so that may make a difference (although it shouldn't from what I know). Are you using your 10 digit phone number@msg.telus.com?
[quote=Alezis]is this still working ? I'm not able to send sms over email using https://mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@msg...[/quote - "Koodo’s Send a Message service is no longer offered. However, we’ve still got you covered since all our plans now include unlimited messaging."  For my use case (SPOT emergency GPS notifications) which relay on an email to SMS gateway looks like there's no coverage.

is this still working ? I'm not able to send sms over email using [url=mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@msg...Telus address still works for me. YMMV
is this still working ? I'm not able to send sms over email using [url=mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@msg...Both the Koodo and Telus addresses are dead.  Look for another cell provider.
is this still working ? I'm not able to send sms over email using [url=mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@msg...Cellular data needs to be enabled to receive a text message!?  Doesn't that defeat the purpose of SMS text messages?    So the answer is NO, Koodo doesn't support sending text messages via email.
