Can you access voicemail by long pressing the number 1?

Mike, when you log in online to see your plan, do you see voicemail listed there? You shouldn't as you are on an older plan that includes call display, not voicemail. You did have visual voicemail but you seemed to have dropped that back in December via self serve.

That's the weird thing, since the day I started with koodo I had voicemail. Then several years later I had an iPhone and they offered me visual voicemail so I took that. Then I forgot to get rid of visual voicemail when I switched from my iPhone to Samsung so I did that around December and I think that is when my voicemail stopped working. But I figured that would be just my visual voicemail I was cancelling not voicemail all together seeing how I've had it for many years prior to that with the same plan at no extra cost.

Seems like your plan does not include Voicemail. Specifically adding VVM allowed the use of voicemail, but when you cancelled VVM, you fell back to the default of the plan, described by Bernard earlier, as having no voicemail.  IF this is important to you, you could change plans to a newer one with VM, or use a third-party VM.

Hmmmm...not sure how to explain that. You could always switch to a current plan like the one below. Unlimited minutes, call display, voicemail included, and 3gb of shock-free-data.

The plan you have did not have voicemail included in it. This is what it does:
