Hi Jeff when that happens ? what do you have to do to get the error ?
I have the same issue! Wtf
Nothing. The error just comes up no matter what im doing..so annoying. Ive shut off every voice command option.
I dont speak french

Translation of my latest comment: I know the issue originates from Google servers . They probably encoutered an issue or it could be caused by some automatic update .

What version Android are you presently running Sa Sara? To find out, go to Settings > About device, then scroll down and locate the Android version. The latest version Android is JellyBean 4.1.2 and should be available for your device through Samsung Kies. I noticed that Jeff is running ICS. The OS upgrade adds many new features and should correct the vocal command problem you're experiencing. If you don't already have Kies, you can download it from the link below. http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP

Actualy, my main cellphone is a JB Galaxy S2x. The secondary being to my girlfriend and JB eating a lot of battery, I did not proceed with the firmware update on her phone. Although the one running Jelly Bean is not having this issue! PS:Kies has serious compatibility issues on Windows 8. So if someone wants to go for JB, he'll need a pc with Windows 7 on it (otherwise I promise hours of pain!)

All is not lost, I provided an alternative method a while back for those experiencing issues with Kies. I've personally tested this method and it works flawlessly. http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/installing_jellybean_4_1_2_when_samsung_kies_wont Same stuff here more or less, scroll halfway down the page to view my contribution. I may have forgotten to mention that you'll have to register with SamMobile to obtain the JB 4.1.2. upgrade - registration is free. http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/samsung_galaxy_s2x_shg_t989d_jelly_bean_update Revised link for Odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189539

Anything that runs on Win 7 runs on my Win 8 machine. Try different compatibility modes: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-8/get-apps-devices-working

@Philosoraptor: Sadly I even tried Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. I'm sorry to tell you I learnt that wayyy before I finished my BCS.

@Jeff: How about setting up a VirtualBox install of XP or 7 for these purposes. I know it's a hassle, but should do the trick if all else fails.

Yeah I have a laptop with W7 on it. I just didn't want to upgrade the cellphone for such a small issue. My girlfriend has 25 to 50 apps she uses everyday... And that would be my job to install them again 😉

I guess I lucked out, after training Win 7 to interact with Kies the whole process took 26 minutes from start to finish. Using the Odin flash method, 16 minutes. Even if you don't upgrade the OS, a rooted device + custom recovery + nandroid backup saves the entire system; all apps, system and user settings including any device customizations (i.e. backgrounds, wallpapers, etc.) accounts, photos, music and contact info and stores everything to the microSD card. A rooted device becomes very useful when you want to disable or delete problematic apps. I'll throw in the disclaimer that rooting will void the manufacturer's warranty. However, the rooting process is fully reversible, the device can be un-rooted if it needs to be returned for repair or warranty work. The battery calibration issue has been resolved by performing a factory reset right after the new OS is installed, I also used Darkside Superwipe prior to installing the new OS. I'm running 4.1 on a rooted S2x and I can easily get a full day of moderate usage out of the device. Your point is well taken, a problem like this shouldn't require a complete OS overhaul and the user should have the ability to turn off problematic apps or features.

Rikkster: Thank you very much for the detailed information about your backup method, I will most likely use it sooner or later (I'm a backup freak).
