Vivo xplay 3s compatibility with koodo network?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to buy a Chinese made cellphone byt he name of Vivo xplay 3s.
I wanted to know if it's compatible with koodo network ?
Here are the specs:
Network
4G    FDD-LTE1800/2100/2600MHz
3G    WCDMA850/900/2100GHz
2G    GSM850/900/1800/1900MHz

If I understand correctly the phone would work in 3g and 4g but not in 2g.
Would my reception be diminish. I'm in Quebec, Saint-Lin. North shore of Montreal

Thank you

Fred

Hello Fred.

Have you tried this : http://help.koodomobile.com/getting-started-with-koodo/sim-cards-and-non-koodo-phones/how-do-i-know-...

Maybe you don't have the phone? Then forget what I said.

I'm not an expert but Koodo work on CDMA and not WCDMA. Also for LTE you'll only get 1 frequency which would be the 2100

Mobile services provided by Koodo use Telus Mobility's CDMAHSPA+ and LTE networks. CDMA devices, however, have been discontinued by Koodo outside of Northern Ontario and Manitoba.[8] Koodo Mobile's CDMA and HSPA networks use the 850 MHz and 1900 MHz frequencies while their LTE network uses 1700/2100 MHz (AWS).

Are you sure? Maybe I'm not understanding how it works. WCDMA = CDMA?

I disagree taylor. Do you know the frequencies/bands koodo uses?

And Robert, WCDMA is 3G/HSPA (sim cards). CDMA is CDMA

My mistake gentlemen. Robert and Ahmad are correct, Fred.

The phone would need both 2100GHz and 1900GHz correct, Ahmad?

Hey Fredrick, Accordig to the specs you've provided, the phone will not work on Koodo's network. It only has half the bands needed in 3G and 4G so it wont work properly
Thank you guy's fore the quick reply

Too bad it won't work !
I really wanted this phone.
Can you point me where I can see the frequency that koodo uses ?
It's not on the map coverage info page unfortunately.

thx

I have a lot of trouble finding a cell with LTE 1700 ?
Even most of koodo lock phone doesn't have it. Example:

Nevermind just found out that AWS is 1700/2100

Overseas brands  will have no idea of who Koodo is for the most part. Look for AT&T (US) compatible as a starting point.

CDMA and 2G are of no use to you, even if the frequencies seem to match.

Missing one part of a frequency pair, such as 850 but no 1900, puts you at the mercy of whatever your local tower is using.

My advice: if you are spending money on a new phone, make sure it's 100% ready.
