Very large difference in data usage between phone and koodoo.

How come koodoo records say i've used 64Mb of data and my phone says 27Mb of data. I understand a bit of difference but double? I understand a little diffrence but this seems ridiculous

Also the "NOOB" badge on this is childish on a support forum for paying customers. I understand why it's there but it seems like something you should turn off.

The noob badge is more for fun. There are different levels and for frequent community members it just helps strive for the next level and the next level. We were all noobs. Nobody pays attention to it. Nobody picks on noobs. We welcome them. This isn't COD. 🙂

Now as for your issue, lets try help. Are you sure your phone started counting the same time as Koodo did?
I like to use a 3rd party app called 3G watchdog which is great as a widget for android. It has never led me inaccurately and tells me how much data and time I have left as a simple graphic as well as a data on/off master switch from my home screen. I love it and many here attest to it too.

Best thing to do is download the Koodo App and just go by that. Really though I've never had any problems if you set up the dates properly on your built in data counter. You can't just go by what it's set at from the factory.

I recommend not using the koodo app, it has a million issues, I never got it to work at ALL, on my 4s. plus it never even let me pay them, a hallmark of a bad app. that says you can "pay your bill online". used the web version of it as well...unless I was lied to in the store and you actually CAN'T pay online with koodo.
I'm not interested in insults from a company I'm paying money to. Calling someone a "NOOB" is insulting. As I said I understand why it's there, I just think it's childish, obviously I noticed it. I'm positive my phone has been measuring usage since the beginning, it's the core data usage (Settings->Data usage). I've verified the date are set properly. Is there any log of my usage I can dig up from the site?

Jeez man your the only one who complains about the noob thing it's funny and your the only one who doesn't think so. Chill out Koodo is known for beingeasy going and making jokes look at their mascot El Tabador it's all in good humour and if you take offence to it you need to get a sense of humourand stop playing so much COD. As far as your issue, YOU have to set it upfor the date where you specified above in ssettings - data usage it's not set whenyou get the phone.

Relax, Paul. No need to go on the attack. And yes you were.
I'm guessing the mobile app doesn't work for prepaid plans.

Works fine for me. Now did you have something you would like help with or did you necro a month old thread just to complain about an unrelated problem with the app?

Gordon. Mine works fine for me too. How does it not work for you? Is it showing you different amounts between your phone and Koodo?

Works fine for me as well and everyone else there would be complaints about it. Maybe you haven't tried it since it was updated last which was quite awhile ago.

Another thing to keep I in mind is the phones counter may be counting things that koodo doesn't charge for or even count. For instance MMS users data to send pictures but koodo doesn't count this data.

3G watchdog comes highly recommended. Especially since prepaid data doesn't expire, it will help you keep track accurately.

As far as the N00b thing, we are a customer based community and we try hard not to take ourselves seriously. People who have never posted here are called N00b as a fun silly thing and most of the time people with that badge will get extra help quicker because there is a core group here that spends a lot of time making sure N00bs get their questions answered and understand what's going on.

For instance your question ( http://bit.ly/1dU2Pwi ) is actually one we've seen before, it's common for someone unfamiliar with how koodo bills data or how the phone counts it to ask it.

Think of it more like the bat signal to mobile masters but instead of batman and Robin you get a more robust group of nerds and shut ins screaming to answer your question first.

I've got 3g watch dog, will see if it does any better tracking. I'd be absolutely fine with the phone reporting more usage then koodoo (i.e. if my phone was counting mms pictures, but koodoo wasn't), it's that it's tracking less usage that's weird. N00b thing: Maybe i'm wrong, but this is the primary way for koodoo to help their customers no? I think i've explained my understanding that it's a joke in other replies, and the genesis of badges. I still think it's childish -- one of the reasons I didn't go with virgin was the irritatingly hip voice they use for their automated service. "robust group of nerds and shut ins screaming to answer your question " really? you guys arn't paid to do this?

We mobile masters are not compensated monitarily. We are however given tester and loaner devices to use, review, and give back.

Also we have access to Ashley which i admit is priceless.

We are customers like you unless you see a badge explain that the user is an employee

Btw i also disliked virgin for that reason

But yeah the community is customers helping customers. Some employees are on here too. But mainly it's us. We all have day jobs or night jobs or are secretly Batman, but we are not sitting at a koodo office or being paid for doing this. and our connection with Koodo is same as yours

If you're on Prepaid, then your data booster will carry over as you renew your base plan. However, on Android, the Data usage screen resets on the billing cycle day that you have set. So even though Android is only reporting 27MB of data being used, its only usage since the start of the last cycle. This doesn't align well with the prepaid data booster plan because your data allotment doesn't reset once a month. Your prepaid data booster will simply expire when you've used up your data bucket. Given that, could that explain the discrepancy?

I'm still within the first month so not really...

Perhaps you should phone and ASK. It has already been explained that we are all customers here, and thus NONE of us has access to your billing information.

Data difference is that Koodo counts it's data that was used and the phone records total data used including FREE WiFi usage, is it not?
