UMI Super

Umi a chinese phone manufacturer is selling its flagship phone, Umi super at $179 US. As a double check, I wonder if this phone works with Canadian carriers. Anybody has experience with this brand? This phone is not still listed in WillMyPhoneWorks. Thanks

À quick spec check shows you SHOULD BE OKAY with 3G data and ok for voice but no LTE coverage. It's not really important to have LTE yet. Nice design btw. Looks like an iPhone 6
Thanks, Is there custom fee for such sales?

Depending on if custom decides to charge an import fee or not. It's a hit and miss when it comes to customs

If shipping is via courier (i.e. UPS, FedEx, etc.), you will have to pay for the import (typically HST+brokerage fee). This will either be done at delivery or you may receive a phone call from the courier ahead of delivery and can choose to pay over the phone.

If it's shipped via Canada Post, you may not have to pay for the import. It all depends on how the company ships it.
I don't think so but I don't know
I have no idea

I have not heard of the company before but the specs look great for the price. Most Chinese OEMs aren't good with updates but it's coming out with 6.0 so it could very well get at least an upgrade to N eventually.

Generally speaking duties/taxes (not necessarily both) get charged on items over 50CAD, give or take. The duty rate is 7% I believe.

Every time I imported something from China I had to pay the GST, but duties have never been charged.
