Transfer of responsibility question

A family member got a phone and a plan then decided they didn't want it and I've been using it ever since. I've had it for a pretty long time, but it's still in their name. I've been paying all the bills and the on-line account is accessed through my email. It worked for us so we never got around to switching it over to me. We're finally going to do a transfer of responsibility, but what will that affect?

Will I still be able to log in on-line or will I have to remake the account?
Will I still be able to pay the bills in the same way?
Is there anything I should know before we transfer responsibility?

Thanks

It will apparently cost you $25 for the privilege of business as usual.

The fee dropped to $10 months ago.

The transfer of ownership info appears near the bottom of this list. https://www.koodomobile.com/contact-us

Transfer-of-ownership is $0 if you do it in a Koodo Shop. Just make sure you bring the account holder with you, Kate. Also, the store reps will have to do a credit check on you and you must bring a valid Government-issued Photo ID and a Canadian credit card or SIN card.

If this helps, please give it a like 🙂

Can you point us to a link where this might be written, Erwin? I don't see this mentioned anywhere in Koodo's Service Terms and it states that transfer of ownership is not available under the Koodo Shop column. From what I can see, this can only be done via email or a phone call to customer service. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just looking for clarification. Forgot to mention, you have to click 'Call Us' to see the list of fees. https://www.koodomobile.com/contact-us?_ga=1.16803004.464491321.1454377809

Hi rikkster,

You can do transfer-of-ownership in Koodo Shop too. When I last did it with a customer, I asked if they will be charge the $10 fee but the Channel Rep said no. I've probably done transfer-of-ownership over 10+ and they haven't charge any of my customers. But this may change at no notice. So it is always nice to ask the rep in Koodo Shop if they are getting charge the $10 fee when doing transfer-of-ownership.

Im not sure if WOW Mobile Boutique or any other resellers can do transfer-of-ownership but Koodo Shop can as long as the customer is prepared with the proper ID's.

Hopefully, this helps out anyone. If it does please give it a like.

Much appreciated Erwin and thank you for taking the time to explain the details.

Hey Erwin! If you had to speak to a Channel Care rep, it technically means that the transfer-of-ownership is still competed by a customer service agent over the phone. At this point, I would suggest the customer call from the comfort of their home, instead of calling from a kiosk. But to each their own! 🙂

The account number will change when you do a transfer of ownership, so customer service would need to detach your email from the existing account. They may be able to simply attach your login to the new account, or you may need to reregister for self serve, at which point your email will be attached to your new account. Aside from that, everything should operate the same way it does now.

It is always good to make things straight. What I do not know, and most probably people of the community can answer this: can you still keep your plan or you have to go for a new one that, I guess, is more expensive?

A new account will be created under the new owner's name. Everything about the line will be transferred to the new account; tab balance, plan, number, etc.
