How come my phone keeps jumping ahead an hour then a few hours later corrects itself?

Your SIM gets syncs time with the strongest eligible local tower. If you are in a border area where one jurisdiction observes daylight savings time while the other doesn’t, or are one time zone apart, (Arizona/Nevada, Arizona/California) expect changes when you connect to one tower or the other.
