SIM Transfer Contacts

Hi, I just transferred my account to a new SIM card and phone, a Samsung Galaxy S5 that I bought online. The phone doesn't seem to be reading the SIM: when I tried to import my contacts the "import from SIM card" function was greyed out. Since I've already transferred my account to the new SIM and cannot read it in my old phone (standard vs mini), what can I do?

Import from SIM only works if:

  • You saved your contacts to the SIM on your  (old) phone
  • Move THAT SIM to a new phone
  • import the contacts to the memory of the new phone.
It is a hold over from the days when there was only 1 size SIM and you moved it from phone to phone.

You can save the contacts on your old phone to your Google Account over Wi-fi, and then access them on your new phone without using the SIM at all.
