Samsung S9 Warranty Repair

Last night I stopped in at the Koodo Kiosk in MasonVille Mall in London to see about warranty repair for my Samsung S9. I was told to take it down the hall to the fonelab store and they would handle any repairs. Is this how Koodo handles phones they sell that are still under warranty? I did take the phone to fonelab and they quickly determined the screen was defective and would need to be replaced. They do not however offer a loaner phone while repairs are being done. So once again, is Koodo's policy to have a third party deal with warranty repairs on Koodo phones?

@RickT : You could check Samsung authorized service center from this link https://www.samsung.com/ca/support/service-center/

It seems the Fonelab was on their list when I typed Toronto in the search.

Their policy for warranty is here https://www.koodomobile.com/help/warranty-and-repair-policy

Just to clarify things - Koodo doesn't provide warranty on the phones sold. No carrier provides such a warranty. Carriers usually send out the phone on your behalf (at their expense) for warranty issues. This is where you'd typically be offered a loaner. I cannot know for sure, but the employee possibly made the suggestion of you taking it there personally to save you the time waiting for the phone to be shipped out to the repair centre and back (it wouldn't likely go to Fonelab in this case).

Also, Fonelab, as an authorized Samsung service centre, doesn't count as 3rd party repair. Your warranty remains intact.

I'd recommend calling the Koodo shop and describing the situation to them - it's possible that they may offer you a loaner.

I'm okay with leaving the phone this time with fonelab as it will only take them half a day to repair. I have an old phone I can use until then. This is actually a pretty good way to get repairs done in a timely manner rather then sending it away and waiting for it's return.
