Samsung s3- Disconnects itself while charging

These past 2 weeks, my Samsung S3 has taken to disconnecting itself while charging. I've woken up with a dead phone multiple times in the short period of time. It can be securely in the phone, but it's almost as if the phone isn't registering that it's connected. I've tried a different charger, and it still happens. I have a second battery that I can try, but it doesn't seem to be a battery issue because if I can get it to charge, it will usually last all day.

Any advice on what to do with this?

Also, I can upgrade soonish, but I am trying to hold off until my tab balance is at 0. (Which will be a few months from now).

Yeah this happens all the time.
The port on your phone is just beaten up and loose now.
Sadly there is no way to fix it that would be worth it to you.

Costs $40 to fix i think.
Better off just upgrading in my opinion.

Seeing as that's what is roughly left on my tab, that may have to be the answer.

Did you know you could just pay off your tab through selfserve and upgrade today?

I've thought about it. I'm just not sure about which one I want/ tab vs tab plus. I've been locked into a good plan for quite a few years and am realllllllly hoping not to lose it.

Well then your only option is Tab!
Tab plus would involve changing to a tab plus plan.
if you have a really good plan, it would definitely make sense to use the tab and hang onto it!

Or to purchase a new phone outright and avoid the tab charge (although the tab is intrest free financing)

All depends on how much you're willing to spend on a phone. You'll at least get SOME discount using the tab system that Koodo has on some phones (besides saving on taxes I believe). This past Boxing Day would have been the perfect time to get a little bit off just about any phone. May as well get something midrange on tab. Don't forget that you can sell your current phone to recoup some cost to go towards a new phone. Up to you to see if it's worth it to repair it and then sell it or sell at a discount similar to cost of repair.
