Samsung S2 not updating

I have the Samsung S2 T989D. I am running ICS verson 4.0.4 and am trying to update my OS by connecting my phone to my computer with Kies air. My computer recognizes my phone and it shows all my stuff on my phone but it doesn't give me any options for updating. There are no prompts or tabs that I can click to update. Am I doing something wrong or am I not able to update this phone.

From what I understand, ICS is the final update for that model of phone.

Not really. Check this out → http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/android_update_to_jelly_bean_4_1_2_for_samsung_galaxy_s2x_t989d

The S2x cannot be updated to Jelly Bean over the air. You need to plug it into a computer running Kies. OTA updates were disabled on the S2X under ICS for some reason.

I own this phone. From Koodo. Updated it from ICS to Jelly Bean by plugging it in to a computer running Kies because over the air updates were not available on the Koodo S2X until the Jelly Bean update.
My phone doesn't have fota. It has kies air, and as mentioned in the original post there are no prompts to update it. Kies air is up to date and my phone is not rooted. i also do not have the option to do software updates from the about device route. I am guessing my phone is not able to update further at this point.

Do not give up yet. Karen, you can perform a factory reset on the phone. Then uninstall samsung kies and try again. I have been reading similar cases. It gotta be a phone related issue. From the Home screen, tap Menu. Tap Settings. Select Privacy. Select Factory data reset. Tap Reset phone. Tap Erase everything. The smartphone is reset to the original factory settings. You will lose all data. You might like to back important things up. Since you will uninstall Samsung Kies, you might like to transfer all media manually to your computer tru the USB cable. 1. Uninstall Samsung Kies first. 2. Install it back → http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP This is the only outcome that comes to my mind, dear.
