Samsung Galaxy S3 "Not Registered on Network"

When I try to make a phone call an error message pops up saying "Not Registered on Network". When I go into my settings and check the Mobile Networks I receive a message saying "Insert SIM Card to access network services" I tried removing the battery and SIM, turning the phone off and on, putting the battery and SIM back in and turning the phone back on and I can get the "SIM" message to go away, but the "Not Registered on Network" message will not go away... Please help!!! I have a SIM card and I've only had the phone for a few weeks!!

Sounds like the sim may be defective.

how does that usually happen? The SIM card is only a few weeks old as well

Generally speaking: the sim stops working. The no sim card message indicates an issue between the phone and the sim card. This means either a problem with the phone or the sim. It has nothing to do with koodo's network. The 'it's only a few weeks old' argument doesn't work here as the phone is also only a few weeks old. A sim card takes 2 minutes to change at a kiosk. A replacement phone, assuming it's more than 15 days old, will take at least 3 business day to be shipped to you. Go to the kiosk and try a different sim card.

I chalk this up to SIM cards being a dime a dozen... some are bound to be faulty.

Replaced the SIM card AND had it activated...still having the same issue.

Try this, go to settings., and under mobile networks make sure use 2G only or use GSM only isn't selected. Koodo doesn't support it.
Shown at the end of every post.

When I select Mobile Networks the following message appears "Insert SIM Card. Insert SIM card to access network services" ... so I can't even get into the mobile network settings.. I went to koodo and got a new SIM card, its been activated, and still having the same issue..

normally when there's no SIM card in the phone it will be clearly indicated at the top of the screen; but there is no message there. The only time it tells me I don't have a SIM inserted is when I try to access the Mobile Networks settings

Well at this point there's some good news. If your phone is beyond the 15 day buyer's remorse period but still under 30 days, you can request a DOA exchange (same model only) from the place you bought it from. Sounds like the SIM reader is messed up.

So I found out from Koodo that the Walmart where I purchased the phone had flagged the phone as stolen from their inventory. SO I showed the proof of purchase to Koodo and they are working to take the flag off.. Could be another 1 to 2 business days. Has anyone heard of anything like this happening?!

I don't see how that could happen if you bought it. Walmart should have a record of that. Or maybe someone reported the wrong IMEI stolen? That's just silly. Then again, you are dealing with Walmart... 😛

ugh... so frustrating. they were supposed to email me that night to let me know what was going on... still no email or call.. i have now been without a phone for 5 days and i live by myself, this is unacceptable.

Understandable, but from your previous posts it sounds like it was Walmart who messed up, not Koodo.

Well, that's the funny thing... Koodo told me Walmart is the one that flagged the phone; and Walmart tells me they can't flag phones, only the carrier can do that. SO, tomorrow makes it one week without a phone. Walmart keeps saying they can't do anything and they send me to Koodo and Koodo says they'll see what they can do and will get back to me, and then they never ever get back to me. After 2 hours on the phone with Koodo last night they told us it was not their problem, it was Walmarts. So today I contact Walmart and the manager says it's not their problem, it's Koodo's. Nobody seems to want to take responsibility, everyone keeps promising things with no follow through.

Walmart in Keswick. and the receipt was brought to the Koodo kiosk in the Upper Canada Mall where the guy took a photo and emailed it to somebody. I was also promised today by two different people from Koodo that I would have an email by the end of the day; so far nothing.
