reset phone... kills phone


my galaxy s was actting up i called for help and they gave me instructions on how to rest phone... not only did i loss all my info. but my internet and reception for the phone is now non existent... maybe this is there way of getting me to buy a nother phone?...

Sorry to hear that ! Doing a reset to factory settings will obviously erase everything from your phone,including the saved password and connexions, That why it is recommanded to backup your info in the first place. You will have , in your case, to setup the wifi connexion. For the phone reception make sure that the network mode is on automatic settings >wireless and network > mobile network

Soft reset is unfortunately that's the ultimate setup someone can do when it comes to resolve unkown phone issues, manufacturers are also suggesting that!, sometimes even you need to perform the Hard reset one in some situations.

Sorry to hear that you were not advised to back up your personal data. Unfortunately, all of that is gone forever. However, I don't think that your phone has been rendered useless. On the dialer pad, type in *#*#4636#*#* and make sure that your network mode is NOT set to GSM only. Also, I don't recall Koodo offering that phone, but that model predates my time with Koodo. If you brought that phone from another carrier, you would've had to manually setup your internet connection APN. You'll need to do that again if your phone is able to register a signal. Your things might not be gone forever, just try syncing your Google account in the settings menu & see if it got backed up when you first signed in and would have chose the option to do so by leaving it checked off. This should have backed up your contacts & possibly your calendar but photos chances are it wouldn't have unless you did that after the sign in process when you first got your phone. To check if your phone is set to GSM only or 2g only go to settings - more settings - mobile networks and then network mode and make sure it's on CDMA or 3 or 4g. Koodo indeed did not sell that phone so you'll definitely have to set the APN settings to those of Koodo's like Ivan said. After all that if your getting no signal or low signal try going to Settings - More Settings - mobile Networks and then click on Network Operators and let it search for towers, it will take about 30 seconds. A list of network operators will show up select koodo or telus if koodo isn't in the list.
