Reception solutions?

Aside from moving out of the valley, I need an inexpensive solution for getting service in a seemingly reception-free zone. Does Koodoo offer a signal booster?

They do not but Wilson (a huge brand name in the trucking industry) does make one and best buy carries it. It's not cheap though. But if there is a signal available, it can amplify it. http://m.bestbuy.ca/?lang=en#/catalog...

Wilson will work fine if you have passable reception somewhere on your property but poor performance indoors or elsewhere. These units can boost a signal considerably, but if the signal is zero to begin with, you will be wasting your money.

Download a utility that can read your actual reception in -dB units. You have to find a good strong point to being with. Anything worse than about -85 dB reception strength will not work adequately.

You also have to follow the installation instructions [i]religiously. If you don't qualify, don't bother. You can actually end up degrading your reception with a poor installation.

Check out their offerings at Weboost.com. The tech people are very quick and honest in their responses.

Another option if you can find one window in the house that works, is to park the phone there and deal with utilities such as MightyText and others that will pass on messaging and calls from the phone's mobile connection thru wifi to your computer. These will be less expensive and are worth trying before opting for expensive hardware solutions.
