I recently upgraded my phone from moto g v 1 to moto g 2015, and during this time i inquired if there is possibly a price drop in the works between now and Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
I was told (obviously) that koodo kiosks wouldn't know of future promos. I then inquired if the price i pay would be protected from future price drops (IE: if the price drops in 30 days, would Koodo refund that to me through a.gift card etc), and i was told that is not the case.
This is a bit bothersome to me because had i purchased the phone out-right from a retailer, i would get a 30 day price drop protection. (IE: if i bought an unlocked phone from Staples, walmart etc, and the price dropped within 30 days, i would get a refund back - this has happened in the past). But because i'm getting the phone from koodo, that wouldn't be the case and i'd have to pay off a potentially higher tab than someone who got the same phone maybe 20-30 days after me.
I think that's a bit unfair and so my idea is for Koodo to introduce price drop protection on their phones. Maybe before when Koodo subsidized the phones this idea didn't make sense. However, now since the price of the phone is spread out over 24 months for upgrades, and paid off by the purchasers, this should be part of the standard purchase contract.
