Post-Lollipop update, DNS issues over WiFi only. Unable to browse to alot of webpages (e.g. reddit, Gizmodo)

HTC One M8 - Since updating to Lollipop 5.0.1 on Feb 11, I am having alot of WiFi connectivity issues centered around DNS resolution. Trying to browse to Reddit or Gizmodo (for example) fails with a host not found error. I've reset my phone to factory, no change. I also confirmed this issue is occuring on a network where other phones and devices are able to browse the sites without issue (my wife's non-Lollipop Android phone can browse without issue). I was planning on calling Koodo support, but if this gets me answers, even better!

After chatting with HTC, they seem to feel it is a "main board issue" and the device needs to be sent in for repairs.. this seems excessive, given it was after a firmware update. The tech was unable to give me a more detailed explanation as for why a software update would damage the main board, however. Back to square 1, I suppose.
Another update: After changing my router config and setting my phone with a static IP, I can suddenly access these sites again. I'm still trying to figure out WHY this matters, but it seems that in some cases, I can access the pages.

Did you perform a software factory reset from within Android (Backup & reset) or did you use the fastboot recovery method? (See video below). The latter uses a combination of buttons to enter into the bootloader mode/fastboot menu, from here you can select the factory reset option. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5_LnslAUtM At 0:58, scroll down to Factory Reset using the 'volume down' button and press the 'power button' to select. Let us know if this solves the problem.
