Port from Public mobile

Userlevel 1
Recieved an email promo to move ONE of my phones from Public mobile to Koodo.
It states "For a limited time, when you switch to a monthly plan with Koodo, you can keep your current rate plan and get the Samsung Galaxy S5 neo for $0!
However, when I went to Koodo on Feb 12, 2017 at 1pm at Bramalea Mall, Brampton, Ont, I was told that to get the new phone I had to give up the Public mobile rate ($40, unlimited talk/text with 1gb data)  plan and switch to a $55 Koodo plan, PLUS the tab fee. I even provided a print out of the offer to no avail.
So, Telus. You are still getting my money with my Public accounts,
but not happy with what appears to be a "Bait and switch" tactic at this retailer.

Something doesn't sound right here, Jim. Let me take this back to the team that oversee's these offers and find out what went wrong. Do you use the same email address with your Public Mobile account as you did to register for the Community here?

So, yesterday I recieved the same offer on my second Public phone. I also found a Koodo shop that will port the phone as indicated in the offer. Now the offer one phone #1 is expired. I still want to move both phones to Koodo due to roaming options that Public does not have. Can the offer on phone #1 be extended? I don't see any way to PM info?

To late. Went to cell retailer across the isle from Koodo, bought an unlocked Galaxy S5 Neo for $100 cheaper than Koodo and plugged my Public mobile sim. For me it's not about the $, but the service.

Im interested in what the price you paid for the S5 Neo was. Could you share with us?

Koodo outright purchase $400. On a 2yr $15 tab cost works out to $360, but to duplicate the Public mobile plan would still cost me an extra $15/ month. Bought [b]NEW unlocked phone $325. Ok, so $75 cheaper, still on Public mobile plan $40/ unlimited talk/text/1gb data. (legacy public customer) Koodo same plan $55.

Koodo through best buy would have given you a deal. Tab Medium for 2 years ($360) plus a $150.gift card for a new activation with Koodo lowering that phone to $210 which would have saved you $115. No way to get you a better plan unfortunately.
As long as you're happy though that is all that matters!

Either way, you're still over-paying for an S5 Neo. Not that it's cheaper elsewhere, but it only has 16 GB internal storage. You could get a Galaxy J3 on tab small with same internal storage. I do realize it was part of the Public to Koodo promo was related to the Galaxy S5 Neo, but it was also exclusive to specific Koodo kiosks to honour the plan. If you're going to Best Buy/The Mobile Shop/Walmart/etc. the S5 Neo is not yet the most awesome deal.

The fact that the S5 Neo is the same price as the G5, S6, and Z Play on a tab makes me cringe a bit. I know deals come for certain phones based on certain guidelines but they should really lowers the prices of all phones in cases like this. Oh well!

That was not the promo I was offered. The original promo emailed to me was move your Public account to Koodo, keep the original Public rate plan, and G S5 Neo for $0.

Glad to hear you were able to get this offer! Welcome to Koodo!

I have a difficulty to get this offer in Red Deer, Alberta. The Koodo shop didn't bother to call and find out anything - just kept saying no we don't deal with Public Mobile. What a shame, poor customer service from Koodo manager there.

I found out the hard way that it has to be a Koodo "shop", not a Koodo "retailer". What the difference is, I don't know.

Former is corporate, latter is privately owned.

A koodo shop is owned and operated by Koodo. A koodo retailer is a third party that sells Koodo services and products but doesn't have access to the same promotions and can run thier own promotions. For instance, Walmart is a Koodo retailer.

I just ported from Public to Koodo after receiving a text message stating that my first month would be paid for, the offer was only good at a certain location of which I went to, and that the offer ends on February 28th 2017. Now I just paid my bill with Public for the month of February at the end of January and I switch to koodo on February 11 2017, from whom I have already received a bill for the next month and I was charged for usage on a number that I never used as I kept my same cell number. I don't know what is going on or is it just a mistake?

Hi Rebecca, the partial charge to a different number is usually for one day and associated with the temporary number you get until the port of your number is completed. With regards to the credit for one month free, this is applied to your second or third invoice. Hope that helps clarify.

What about call forwarding? Does your plan have call forwarding for free?

Call forwarding is available as a $3 monthly add-on with the currently suite of plans we offer.

Koodo does not... so at least you know which is which when you make a choice 🙂
