Hi Cynthia, some phones do get mighty hot when charging, especially in this weather. Is your house air conditioned? I would not charge the phone while it is on flammable materials such as paper, foam or plastic... I once put a permanent mark on our couch (velvet). I haven't heard of actual fires starting but I'd be careful all the same!
