One Plus 7T Pro Mclaren Volte and wifi calling

Hey everyone,

I’m hoping someone here can help answer my question. I’m with Koodo (bring your own device) and I have an unlocked OnePlus 7T Pro Mclaren as my phone  (from T-mobile).  I’ve read about Volte and wifi calling, but I don’t see an option to enable those features on my phone. I do have the wifi calling icon in my top menu bar, but it’s greyed out. The reason I’m asking is because  I’ve been having issues with incoming calls on it (I answer and there’s no sound from either the caller or myself to them). And when I do get a call to go through, it works well sometimes but other times the person I’m calling says there’s an awful noise/static on their end.  Any help is appreciated since I need this phone for work.

Thank you.

Koodo and other carriers only support those features on specific headsets. They are not universally supported in Android.

I had a T-Mobile LG G3 a few years ago that supported VoLTE and WFi calling, but it only worked on T-Mobile’s proprietary network, not any others.

If those features are really important to you, you might consider switching to an iPhone, as support is baked in as a universal feature on recent IOS releases, regardless of which North American network you are on.

Canadian iPhones take advantage of these features even when roaming on T-Mobile or AT&T in the US.

Thanks for this thoughtful response. This helps quite a bit. Cheers!
