It probably doesn't have 850/1900mhz 3G so can only access data. You should double check the bands it has but that's Likely why.

2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz 3G: WCDMA 900/2100Mhz 4G: FDD-LTE 800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz
Ha okay, the phone has 900/2100 for 3g

Yep. So no voice calls, unfortunately.

You can't add more frequencies to a phone and Koodo currently doesn't have VoLTE so that's not an option either unfortunately.

What are my options? I saw that videotron support my frequencie, I could change?

No Canadian carrier supports those 3G bands. Videotron supports AWS (1700/2100), which is not the same as 2100.

So basically I'll have to send the phone back and get one that works with the bands?

If you want to use 100% of your phone's capacity, yes!

No that cannot work as you cannot share the sim card. I would try to return or sell that phone and you can either get another phone from the same manufacturer that has the right bands or wait until the day Koodo finally comes out with VoLTE.

I'm sure that you rteally like the phone but I would not look for weird soluations that greatly complicate things, such as carrying two phones, when there's similar phones elsewhere as well. It is a lot of phone for the money for sure, but if you can't use it then you just can't use it.

You can use your old phone as a WiFi hotspot. Connect the new one to the hotspot to use data and apps. But, this isn't a good solution for a number of reasons:

1. Using a phone as a hotspot draws a lot of power and generates a lot of heat (which shortens your battery life and battery health). You won't get through the day without multiple top ups.
2. You can go through your data rather quickly if you don't disable auto-updates on your new phone (not even over WiFi, because your new phone won't recognize the WiFi hotspot as a metered connection).
3. It's a pain to juggle two devices.

Okay thanks all, I'll think about it and see.
I found a way to call, Hangout and what's app. If it's not working properly I'll get a new phone, the samsung galaxy s6 cuz I'm on a tight budget, if you have any other inexpensive phones tell me.
