Nexus 5 won't connect to Telus 4G in area.

I bought my Nexus 5 from the Google Play Store, got a Koodo sim card and got it activated. But it have recently came to my attention that Telus has 4G coverage in my area. As far as I know, Koodo runs off of the Telus network so why can't I connect to the 4G network? When I went to Edmonton it connected to LTE though.

Yay Edmonton! Does Koodo's coverage map say they have LTE on your area? http://help.koodomobile.com/coverage-long-distance-and-travelling/coverage-maps
Not LTE, but 4G HSPA. But all I can connect to is 3G+.

4G HSPA is in reality 3G+ or 3.5G but carriers and manufacturers sometimes round up. So 3G+ means you are indeed getting 4G HSPA True 4G is LTE

Oh! My friend's Galaxy S5 on Telus says 4G so I guess it's just due to the different devices.

I've got to hand it to you, Matthew, you are the first person I ever met who is able to make a connection between the water resistance of a phone and paying off the tab while the question is about the 4G network. Are you sure you didn't mean "switching off the tap before the pressure reaches 4g force" instead? 😃
