Disputing data usage, while new phone was being setup background data was used for the first minute (few seconds if at that) untill i realized and turned off data and restricted data usage. Will Koodo accept this in the dispute. if i may rant a bit, it is like a trap, expect that data usage add on on your first bill, you have to turn on your phone when it is new... Data is on from the factory... and backround apps are trying to automatically update and connect before you have a chance to chose weather to use data or not. anyway, just saw my bill, trying the community before i call Koodo tommorow

Read the promoted responses below. It may calm your nerves. Check your phone for your data usage pattern before calling Koodo. http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/data-kmn2gd6752n3e Also: Data and how to make the most of it. http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/data-and-how-to-make-the-most-of-it
Sorry this happened to you. In my own experience, I was shown by the Koodo rep how to turn on, and off the data function on my phone. She was clear on that, being I hadn't bought into a data plan. I feel your best option is to contact Koodo and explain your issue, if it's only one billing period where you have this data charge, they should reimburse you for it. I have experienced a similar situation with a different phone company, and I had my account credited for the "mistake". I don't feel you have been enveloped into a "trap"... I feel that you, like I, was sold a phone that can be a complicated device without a proper manual, and the rep can't properly explain it in the time they have available to them. Do yourself a favor, search online for the manual for your phone. Read it. Refer to it when you have issues. Cheers!

If you get charged for data usage when you set up your new phone, call customer service *611 from your phone. Explain what's happen calmly then they usually remove that charge. (specially for the first time) Also there is a link for the manual for phones on Koodo's website if you need them 🙂 http://help.koodomobile.com/phone-troubleshooting
thanks everyone, this eased my mind, so i am more restrained when i call koodo. i forgot to mention this happened to three phones i have under my account(wife and.gift for mother in law), so this issue now adds up, $15+Tax. in hindsight i know now to turn the phone on before putting in the sim card, this way it is not connected and i can setup the data to be off.
