Need steps to follow to Activate PREPAID sim (w/$20 credit) on my MOTO G phone


Phone: Moto G
Calgary, AB

I have a PREPAID KOODO Sim Card that came with $20. credit on it. I have a new unlocked MOTO G phone.

I DO NOT have a Koodo account yet of any kind.

WHAT STEPS do I follow to become a Prepaid customer?

I want to sign on for the $15. PREPAID Plan.
I also want to purchase a talk 'pack' and a data 'pack' that don't expire, at the same time.

Do I get an account first?
... or do I activate first? I cannot see how to do that on this site.
How do I sign up for a plan?
OR
Do I just insert the new Prepaid Sim into the phone and turn it on and it will lead me through the proper registration steps?

Buying the new card and the new phone seemed the easiest way to be PREPAID customer but now seems not so much.

Welcome to prepaid! You can activate here: https://activateprepaid.koodomobile.com/ Seems they are down for maintenance right now so you better wait a few hours before you try it 🙂

When I tried that  I got a "cannot locate server"  error... maintenance explains that, thx...

It's very easy once they are back online... You get to pick your own number, boosters etc. Even I could do it 😃

To make sure you force the site to refresh, hit ctrl - F5. Saturday evening is usually maintenance time... Shame you got caught in the middle of that. But it'll be back!

Follow Sophia's link. I did an activation at 4 pm and it took all of 5 minutes. Went thru like a charm, including porting an existing number. It's one area where the Koodo site is really working. Make sure you have the IMEI (serial number for the phone) & the serial number of the SIM clearly visible, and your credit card at hand. Decide what plan and boosters you want ahead of time.You will be asked for your email & will have to choose a password, 4-digit PIN and a security question, the correct billing address for the credit card (unless you are only using vouchers) and away you go.

I was able to activate sim and choose plans and register and everything Bob The Electrician mentioned, by using Sophias provided link.

Registered my card for auto debit and registered my phone as well and received confirmation of new phone number , credits, boosts etc.

Everything smooth as can be...

I confirmed my email and came to the "no server" message when I clicked the link from my email... no prob just figured I'd try it tomorrow...

I tried to log in to self serve prepaid and it is still down too...

So I went ahead and put the sim card in and powered the phone up.

I have no cel service (or provider) showing on the phone. Wireless only.

Perhaps this takes a while to actually process or maybe because maintenance still partially in process...?

I will attempt things in a few hours again.

Great, glad you made it this far! Actually it should work now... Could you try powering off your phone for a minute or two, remove the SIM card as well and then put it all back together again?
