Need help, GS5 not connecting to network


Just got a new GS5, problem is that I am getting service bars, but when I try to make calls it says phone not registered to network. I have not received a text or anything since the phone has been setup. Is the problem that the sim card is not active yet( has been about 7 hrs since phone was purchased), or is it DOA phone.

Try this: while the phone is on take out the battery and then SIM Card and wait a minute or so then replace them and try it again. Also make sure the phone isn't set to 2g or gsm only and that the phone isn't in airplane mode.
the apns is set to sp.koodo.com, network mode is auto connect ( LTE/WCDMA/GSM) and flight mode is turned off. Also I have done the sims card and battery take out a few times now, no luck so far.

Did you buy the phone from Koodo? Try turning the network mode to WCDMA only. Also are you sure that the SIM Card has indeed been activated as it sounds like everything is set up properly? Have you used Koodo in your area before?

yes this is a upgraded phone with koodo, I have been with koodo for the past 3 years, changing to wcdma only did nothing. I guess its possible at the store that they did not setup the new sims card properly

and the numbers on the sim card in the phone and on my phone tab on the koodo website do match up.
