need advice about a problem with my note 2

I am trying to customize my contacts with individual ring tones I added to my new Samsung galaxy note2 but every time I try it says unfortunately contacts has stopped. I have even tried to change the default ring to something I added but get the same message. I have tried rebooting and a complete shut down. what should I do next? a factory reset or just take it back and get a new one since it has been less then 2 weeks since i have had the phone.

Have you tried a different format of Audio file from the one that's not saving?
no, the problem is not that it wont save, its that I can only choose the default ring tones if i try click on the add button I get the unfortunately contacts has stopped window. my cousin has the same phone also with koodo but does not have this problem.

Oh Ok well then I'd say do a factory reset and if that doesn't help then exchange it
