My unlocked phone shows Emergency Call but I can text and talk. Phone glitch or faulty SIM?


Phone is a ZTE Grand X, Model 933. As we are about to leave for a road trip I would like to be sure we are connected.

Try rebooting the phone and then toggle airplane mode if that doesn't work. Keep us updated please. Also are your bill payments up to do date? Have u been using this phone already for a while now with no problems ?

Tried rebooting and toggled airplane mode. Let it go to sleep. Still Emergency Call but I can text and make phone calls so don't quite understand?? If I enable Data I get 3G beside the bars (and they turn blue) when I cancel Data the bars go to grey but I can still text and talk so don't know the relevance on this particular phone. New SIM was put in and updated by store assistant last Friday and my payments are up to date. Still a SIM glitch or the phone and no worries??

I had a look at the APN and find that the first Proxy and Port entries are not set. Could that make a difference?

Have been assured by the store assistant that it is probably an unlocked phone glitch as everything seems tob e working. Hope so!!

I'm looking at the specs for this phone from the information you've given and it appears to be a phone exclusive to Bell and Virgin Mobile. Data is not required for sending text messages, (only picture messages) and the the proxy and port entries should be blank. The phone is HSPA/UMTS (3G) and GPRS/EDGE (2G) compatible: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, (3G) &: 850/1900/2100 MHz, (2G) respectively. The phone should work on 3G, though Koodo does not operate a 2G network. Check your phones' settings and make sure that the 2G setting is not enabled. If it is, disable it. Keep us posted.

It was purchased as Unlocked in the box, and we seem to be working just fine. I don't send pictures or videos and only turn data on if anyone I know sends something. Thanks for your info.

All the same except at the bottom I have APN type default,mms,dun; and further on APN protocol and PAN roaming protocol  IPv4;APN enabler/disable is enabled; Bearer Unspecified; MVNO type GID; MVNO value 4B. Everything seems to be working just fine!
