MOTO G won't charge :(

My new moto g won't charge, I'm really sortof pissed because I just got this for christmas and haven't in any way harmed the phone yet. This morning I realized the phone wouldn't charge, and now it's constantly at 1%. Do I have to send it in for repair or is there an explanation? By the way, I've tried plugging it in with two separate chords, and have tried both wall plug in and computer plug in, so it seems to be the phone's problem. I hope I don't have to send it in but if I have to, could somebody instruct me on how to do that?

Also, the phone seems to charge somewhat when I turn it off, as it will turn on after a while of being plugged in and be at 1% battery.

If it is within 15 days of purchase, bring it back to the store it was bought from. They can give you a brand new one. if it is after the 15 days, then a repair would need to be done.

Are you charging it with the original charging cable? the one that came in the box?
Hi , just as I thought I'd found the perfect phone my moto g has just done the same thing ! Stuck on 1% and won't budge ? This is really bad for the moto g as it's not the only fault I've had like mic cutting out , and volume issues which to be fair a software update cured that one but this is a real pain !
My phone wouldn't take a charge with the factory supplied charger (white wall charger). Restarted, didn't work. Shut down phone and still no charge from cord. Tried multiple outlets, still no charge. I tried another cord and it worked. Looked at the factory charger and noticed one side had a dimple, faced the dimple side up, re plugged the charger and the charger worked. Long story short, dimple side of factory supplied white charger must be faced up to actively charge phone.

It's a standard micro-USB charging cable that will only fit one way. 1st. generation Moto G's sold in Canada and in many other parts of the world, did not include a factory supplied wall charger. Motorola claims that; [i]"In order to keep the price low, Motorola made many cost-saving decisions. In this case, our research showed that many people already had a suitable Motorola charger available, or a PC or other device that can be used to charge Moto G".
