I think it all depends on where you go to purchase it if they will sell it to you or not. Keep in mind that usually it's an extra $50 on top of the postpaid price so it would be $266 plus tax if they will sell it to you.

Thanks Paul! I didn't think they would charge that much extra. I can buy it from telus for that much including taxes. 🙂

Thanks Steve! I'm not far from Cornwall. I would be half tempted to drive there and grab one. I'm going to go to the kiosk here in brockville on Thursday and see if they will do it. 🙂

Don't buy it from Koodo.  Virgin sells the phone for 199. Koodo should learn how to treat customers!!!! you can buy from Virgin and unlock or switch to other provider that treats prepaid customer with respect!

Actually no. Koodo has a selection of phones available for prepaid. There is the odd time the associate at the Koodo stall will sell a phone not available to prepaid to a prepaid customer by mistake. However, some retail partners such as walmart and bestbuy may sell any phone to any type of customer. Here is a link to see what phones are available to prepaid customers: https://www.koodomobile.com/prepaid-phones?INTCMP=KMNew_NavMenu_Shop_PrepaidPhones

If you have a walmart or bestbuy, go check them out! I'm not 100% sure but I don't they they really care if your post-paid or pre-paid. If not, check out ebay!

If credit history is not an issue, nothing to prevent you from buying one on post-paid plan, then switching to prepaid down the road after you clear your tab.

I have no interest in being a post paid customer. I buy all my phones outright last one was an iPhone 5s. My husband is post paid if I really want one I will send him in worst case lol. 🙂. As for eBay I have had good and bad experiences when it comes to phones. For what they are asking for the moto g is twice the price as any carrier so that to me isn't worth it. But thanks mathieu!

Both Walmart and Best Buy have policies against selling phones outright. Most retailers do, your best bet would be a Koodo Shop.

Wal-Mart/Buy Best Postpaid phones, they Do NOT sell To Non-Clients of respective carriers of Phones from Carriers that Clients are NOT part of. Bell/VM store + their ONLINE stores Also will NOT sell to Non-Clients. Fido, Their policy is That they will, But you must pay for phone + $25 fee, + Unlock fee as well. Telus Physical stores, They vary on that, even for Postpaid phones, Depending on one's negotiating skills, they May get lucky. Telus Online allows even Non-Clients to Buy phone From them without Needing to Join them. Koodie Stores, if Handset has a Purple label on them, They CAN be bought 100% Outright without requirements to join them. Red Label phones, Postpaid ONLy

For some reason both Telus and Koodo refuse  to sell Moto G. What even more ridicules   is that if you want to buy Moto G as prepaid phone with prepaid account you have to pay additional $50.  The price difference between Koodo prepaid with Moto G and Virgin with the same phone was $66 + tax. It's more than 4 months of basic prepaid service. Someone at Koodo definitely made a huge mistake...
