Mobile Network Status disconnected - can't receive texts at all.

I've had this android phone for two years, with no issue. And suddenly it's telling me that my text message inbox is full even though I've deleted all my texts, and I have a lot of internal storage space left. I went to my phone status and it says my mobile network state is disconnected. What is going on and how can I fix this? I don't want to pay money, I have a new phone coming in 3 weeks.

The memory issues will likely require a factory reset to fix. Easy enough to do but it will wipe your phone. Which one do you have?
