MMS

Hey, I just purchased the new Moto G and am not able to send or receive MMS without having the data on, however on my old HTC One V I was able to send and receive MMS without having the mobile data connected, how can I do this for my new phone?

The Motorola Moto G requires a data connection (and so did your One V) to send mms messages.
My mobile data was never on for the One V and I had no problems

Mms can only be sent over the mobile network on HSPA devices like the One V. There was a way to edit the apn to allow only Mms but that trick may not work with the Moto G.
Yeah, Ive tried changing the APN stuff that you suggested but it won't save

So that means the only way you can send mms is to toggle your data on and off manually or only send when you're phone is connected to wifi
Am I able to receive notification somehow that Ive received a mms while not connected to data?

I'm not sure, ask a friend to mms you while your data is off to see.

You will get the notification but it won't download with the data off. Sometimes it won't even download once the data is turned back on, but that's more of an occasional system glitch than anything else.

Why are you concerned about your data being on while sending pics? Unless you have a ton of apps open and they consume massive data in the background having data on shouldn't be a problem at all.

You could try installing a free firewall so that you can have total control over what's using data. I haven't tried this one but it may be worth checking out. You could restrict everything but the messaging app. Dunno if it has a wife switch. Check it out and let us know if it works for you. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netspark.firewall
