I just bought a LG K4 phone, and intend to install a prepaid plan today and purchase 2GB of data top ups (30.00 each). I have never used a smartphone with data. The only thing so far that I have done is set a few things that the phone has prompted me to (time, date, etc) and have yet to go onto Koodo and actually get a number. I have printed out the instruction manual for the phone, but there is very little in there how to minimize data usage.
In my set up, I picked that I would NOT be using other available Wi Fi, but just Koodo's ...my phone would only be used for my job (out and about as a homecare nurse, to use things like Google maps, send e mail back to the office while on the job, text, etc). I have a desktop computer, a tablet (Samsung/Android), and an Ipod touch at home, and would not use my phone for getting on the internet, etc while I am at home and have those other devices for access.
Any idea how I could not use data while my phone is sitting at home and charging? I would only really need GB's for the above activities, likely would not be downloading games, movies, etc.
