Microphone ONLY working when on Speakerphone--LGG4

My microphone stopped working last night unless it is on Speakerphone--No one can hear me but I can hear them.
Is there anything I can do for this?

Please answer both of the following questions Do you have any Bluetooth devices that may be interfering with the normal phone calls? How old is your phone?

I do not use any Bluetooth devices, nor is the Bluetooth option on. There is nothing in my home that has any Bluetooth feature on.
I can make phone calls, it is just that no one can hear me as I speak--I can hear them perfectly.

It is a G4, But I only got it last July(2016)--It is still under warranty. It was not refurbished--it was new.

There are a few things you can try. Simply restarting your device, remove the battery, try cleaning out the microphone port with a needle or something similar and/or try a factory reset on the device.

If your phone is under warranty, don't stick a needle in the microphone port.

I'd say don't stick needle in the port, period. Lol

Hahha didn't mean shove it down the microphone port. Just use it lightly on the top to scratch out any dust. If you can take 10 seconds to remove some dust, (which is a common microphone problem), it is much better than taking the time to send it away. A better suggestion would be compressed air or a small brush.

I tried restarting my device 3x--no luck for me.
I have also removed the battery and looked down the microphone port. I also blew in the microphone port (like old N64 Games/System) but it still has that issue.

I called Koodo and they said that apparently with LG devices and Motorola devices, this is a very common issue and is considered a mechanical issue--it can be repaired under warranty with no charge as long as it is within 1 year of purchase.

But if possible, I do not want to have to send my phone in for repairs.

Does anyone know if you would get a loaner phone for the time it is off for repair?

Depends on the store you go to. Go to your closest Koodo store and see if they have a loaner phone available for you.
I had this problem happen recently and I wish that someone would have told me what I am about to tell you.  First, figure out if your microphone is working or not by calling someone and blowing into the main microphone.  If they can hear you blowing into it then your microphone still works!  Next you should try cleaning out the microphone area.  Use Isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush or something with soft bristles to clean out the dirt.  Put the alcohol on the bristles and not directly on the phone. I also use compressed air to help dry it quicker.   Then try it again once all the dirt is removed.  This fixed my problem!  If this doesn't fix it then try cleaning it again but if all else fails then you can factory reset your phone.  That is what the cell phone repair shop told me over the phone. I hope this helps the next person who sees this post!

Try coming here next time! I suggested this (minus the alcohol) up above:)
