messaging with photos on Android

I have a Samsung Galaxy s4 and my plan comes with unlimited texting and 200mins Canada wide. It says unlimited SMS and mms messaging but I can't send pictures without enabling data. So if I enable data to send a photo will it charge me extra for data

It wont charge you extra to send the photo but the issue is your phone will most likely use backround data rightt away as soon as you turn data on thus incurring data charges. If you're connected to wifi while you turn on data and send the photo you can avoid this issue and avoid unwanted data charges so I highly recommend that as inconvenient as it may be at times

The trick is to get into the habit of turning off data when you're not using it. The simplest solution is to install a data toggle widget on your homescreen. The widget will tell you instantly if data is enabled or not and saves time from having to go through pages of settings to manually enable or disable data. I've used this for a few years now. Make sure that apps update over Wi-Fi only. Login to the Play Store on your phone, tap the three horizontal bars (menu) in the upper left hand of the phones' screen and scroll down to Settings. You can choose to 'auto update apps over Wi-Fi' (preferred), if it hasn't already been selected by default. This means that apps will only update when you're connected to Wi-Fi.
