Hey John,

Those speeds look pretty good to me. Koodo doesn't limit prepaid speeds just because you're on prepaid. Keep in mind you're sharing the network with every other Telus and Bell customer so speeds will vary depending on network congestion . Keep in mind that the data used to run this speedtest comes from your available data bucket. So you may want to watch how often you run these.

Yes, I remember it takes up around 100M per test. It is really a huge amount.

Also keep in mind, that as prepaid customers, we don't get the benefit of extended Cdn roaming. If you venture out of Koodo's relatively thin MB coverage, you get the best that they can provide you without incurring charges on other Cdn carriers, which would be gratis to you as a monthly customer.

If speed and coverage are of the essence, maybe prepaid is not for you. But wait till you've pretty well used up your buckets before switching.

If you are ever near  Koodo boutique, ask them to pop in a monthly SIM and do a test to see if your speed improves. That will answer a lot of questions.

When postpaid customers use more than 1/2 of their monthly allowance in the extended coverage area, Koodo will block them for any further use in that area. I actually like prepaid service and I am OK without extended coverage,  but unfortunately they don't offer international roaming which I need.

That's not just Koodo being "mean". Govt says providers can't offer plans directly to anyone unless they are equipped to service them with native eqpt at least 50% of the time.

Otherwise, we'd be witnessing SaskTel plundering the Atlantic Canada market, I suppose...

Yes thanks Chad Burr for the info will have to try at different locations when the weather permits, tech support said that also the low temp in Winnipeg have a factor on reception and speed.

As for Postpaid I really don't need my monthly usage does not warrant spending $40 a month I now spend about $20 to $25 a month, I use Hangouts for calling in North America.

LOL it is true. Within one minute, 100M gone. I did the same thing by OOKLA and I didn't realize it until I checked my usage. Holly Cow! Then I uninstalled it right away.
