Go into Settings, scroll down to Date and Time, and make sure Auto Date & Time is checked.

How am I trolling?  A lot of times if messages aren't being sent or received, Auto Date & Time isn't checked.  It was just a suggestion

Did you send a long message without data enabled? If yes, then those message (MMS) need data.
I always have data enabled. No point owning a smart phone if you can't afford data lol

Have you tried a different messaging app?
No I just use the standard messaging one.I dont think I should need to use a different one. I'm paying to have a service, the stuff provided should work as intended I think. I don't think we should have to use secondary apps to get things to work.

I ask so we can troubleshoot the reason your texts are not going through.  If it works on another messaging app then its probably a text message setting issue and not a network issue.  If it is still happening then it is a network/account issues and not a messaging app issue

And I never said you SHOULD need to use a different one.  Geez, we are all volunteering to help you here.  No one who responded so far works for koodo.  We are customers like you

Hello Mike.

Did you end up solving your problem?
I'll just add to this one, because I don't want to start a new thread.

I have the same issue randomly. Usually I notice it mostly for picture messages, both sending and receiving. For example: Yesterday I was standing right beside my sister who sent me a picture message, 26 hours later, I still haven't received it yet. This seems to be an intermittent problem, as sometimes I'll get them right away.

I sometimes have the same issue with regular messages as well. I don't usually notice until I reset my phone though, and then it tells me I have a bunch of unsent messages. I do have the settings set to delete old messages already.

Now, I realise I am using an old, bottom of the line phone (moto G), but is this a phone issue, or a network issue?

It could be a phone issue, if your phone is intermittently disconnecting from the network, but it is more likely a network design issue. SMS is a store and forward system, where messsges are stored on a carrier's servers until transferred to the receiving carrier's servers, and thence to the recipients phone, if available. The system keeps trying to send a messsge to you at ever increasing time intervals until received, or the system gives up. It is a fairly common occurrence over the total number of SMS sent for losses to occur.
