lollipop is ruining my nexus 4!!!!!

I have had my nexus 4, purchaced on tab over a year ago. Recently, it underwent an "upgrade" to lollipop and effectively turned my once top knotch phone into a total pos. It shuts down randomly, freezes up like my old nexus s under the simplest of multi tasks. And generally struggles with everyday calling and texting. I want my old phone back!!! Is there anything I can do? Please help me koodo. Thanks, Andrew. Ps, I can't afford another new phone!!!!!

A month or so ago this board was being overrun with folks desperately needing the 5.0 upgrade or they couldn't sleep at night. May cost you a night's sleep, and don't ask me, I haven't tried it, I don't blindly do automatic updates: http://www.gottabemobile.com/2015/01/30/slingbox-m1-review-watch-live-tv-on-iphone-android/ That type of link doesn't look like it will last long.

"That type of link doesn't look like it will last long. " They churn thru topics fast. So good to hear from you again.

Have you done a simple factory reset of your device, it should fix all your issues

Except for losing all your contacts and data, unless backed up first. Just what we need, an upgrade that brings us back to square one.

Point is: an innocently advertised update should not send people to distraction. I know from experience that any jump from 9.x to 10 on anything is a BIG issue. Most folks buy a phone for utility and pay a good money for it. Don't necessarily want to be guinea pigs. Should be warned to be cautious and have the opportunity to say NOT NOW or just plain NO.

First it's a Nexus device which is a developers tool not a regular device from Samsung or Motorola ect and has always been to test updates and they are known for this. Next you are asked if you would like to update you are never forced to. Then If you have issues with an update Google supplies the tools to roll back the Nexus devices to a previous version of Android. I always do a factory reset after every big update on every device and never had a single issue. Simply back up your info to your Google account and then simply sync when your setting your device back up, it's easy and removes the possible issues of apps that haven't been updated for the new version your installing that you may have had installed prior to updating.

Once you get the contacts straightened out, http://www.wikihow.com/Export-Gmail-Contacts if you have access to a computer. You will at least have a backup.

I didn't see it mentioned, here's the link to the Nexus factory images. You'll be looking for the heading: "occam" for Nexus 4, if you decide to revert back to KitKat. https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
