I could get it to work with my new LG tv so phoned LG.
They said the G7 One doesn't support screen casting.
Is there a hardware component to casting?

You can buy a Google Chromecast dongle, which fits into one of the HDMI ports of any TV. Download the Google Home app for the phone and follow the not-too-clear directions on the Google site and it will work.
Took me a few tries to get it right on my LG V20 phone and older Sony TV using the original Chromecast dongle.
